Last week was absolutely perfect – filled with a much needed get away to Nevada and California! Winter in Minnesota was way too long this year and some shooting in Los Angeles created tons of magical memories! This was basically all we needed to cure our winter blues and we got it! Despite the fact that we already saw Nevada and a little bit of California a few years ago, this time we decided to rent a car and visit all the beautiful places that we never had time to see during our first visit there.
We started with Las Vegas, letting ourselves relax before our long drive ahead of us! The last time we visited Vegas we were blown away by the city – all the amazing restaurants, shows and Vegas atmosphere that you can’t find anywhere else in the world was still exciting to us! But there is much more than just Vegas, the surrounding areas such as Red Rocks National Park – the history goes back hundreds of million years which is hard even to imagine that something can be that old! On the list of our other “must sees” was Death Valley National Park and the Badwater Basin which is the lowest point in North America as well as Golden Canyon, Ubehebe Crater and Scotty Castle.
There were times when we didn’t see a car for hours, didn’t have cell phone service (thanks Google Maps for working offline, we couldn’t do it without you), but was a completely unique and fresh experience, totally unlike any other traveling we did before! We slowly made our way through Stanislaus National Forest and made our way to San Fransisco, paying a really short visit to the city.
We eventually made our way to Los Angeles and shooting there was very inspiring (can we do it again please?). Photographing in downtown LA and on the cliffs of Long Beach area was breathtaking and was a nice change of pace compared to Minnesota. We ended our week long strip in San Diego and were very happy we got to go away for a week – after a long winter it was a very needed time to recharge our batteries!
